Section 1: Insuring Personal Residential Property
In this section, you will become familiar with Insurance Services Office (ISO) Dwelling and Homeowners Policy programs. Familiarity includes an understanding of essential policy terms and the ability to explain the purpose of the seven Homeowners Policy Coverage Forms. You will also use these policy forms to examine the eligibility of specific risks, the association between specific risks and appropriate policy forms, and basic policy limits. Finally, you will come to understand the purpose of endorsements available to support various ownerships and coverage.
Section 2: The Homeowners Policy Structure and Definitions
In this section, you will examine the common structure of a Homeowners Policy and look closely at the Declarations Page, the Insuring Agreement, and Definitions within a Homeowners Policy. Finally, you will begin to understand the purpose of endorsements available to support or broaden policy coverage.
Section 3: The Homeowners Policy Section I – Property Coverages
In this section, you will continue your exploration of the Homeowners Policy. You will examine the details of four parts within Section I of the Homeowners Policy: Property Coverages, Perils Insured Against, Exclusions, and Conditions. You will also become familiar with a number of key endorsements related to coverages described in Section I.
Section 4: Homeowners Policy Section II – Liability Coverages
In this section, you will examine four parts of Section II of a Homeowners Policy: Liability Coverages, Exclusions, Additional Coverages, and Conditions, so that you may confidently explain the important coverage provided by Section II – Liability Coverages to personal insurance clients. Finally, you will conclude your work in this section with an analysis of Sections I and II – Conditions.
